The Return of a Legend: Stipe Miocic Prepares for His Next Showdown
November 3, 2024
Boasting a 20-4 record with 15 wins by knockout, Stipe holds the UFC record for most consecutive heavyweight title defenses as well as the record for most finishes in UFC heavyweight title fights.
Though the fight was initially set to occur in November 2023, and was delayed due to Jones’s injury, Stipe has not been idle.
“I put in the work every single day,” Stipe told the Black Buffalo team while filming the Black Buffalo Way series. “I’m always ready.”
“There’s a peace of mind that comes with putting in a full day of work, and I chase that feeling,” said Stipe. “Even if I have some down time at the pool, I’m still putting on my mask and working on my cardio and hands.”
By the date of the long-awaited fight, 1,330 days will have transpired since Stipe last took to the octagon on March 27, 2021 at UFC 260. Then, Stipe had rematched Francis Ngannou, whom Stipe had previously defeated in 2018 via unanimous decision and breaking the record for most consecutive title defenses for the division.
Three years and eight months later, Stipe has since been sworn in as a full-time firefighter and paramedic in his Ohio town after many years of part-time work, further committing himself to his family and his community.
“I’ve been part of the fight game for so long that I’ve learned not to take anything for granted in this sport,” said Stipe ahead of the November matchup. “Nothing is guaranteed in life, so it’s better to focus on the journey than the destination.”
